Somehow!

I am happy to have seen Made of Honor with Van as I haven’t gone to cinemas for sometime (My last was Iron Man which was eons ago). I was even happier with what I saw. MOH was one cute movie to cheer you up without trying to impress the film critics. MOH exudes both commercial and sex appeal with its equally beautiful lead actors. It was light and displayed comic sequences that effortlessly made me laugh.

I like most on the movie is the use of metaphor with Tom (Patrick Dempsey) unknowingly  associating Hannah (Michelle Monaghan) with dogs and even the film’s third wheel was playfully linked to a dog in one scene. I also love the effort of Tom (with the help of his male friends) to be the best Maid of Honor he could be.  I admit to certain extent I feel like I am  watching another movie in the tradition of “My Best Friend’s Wedding” etc. The bottomline is, I did enjoy  watching MOH.

Though the movie happens to be light, MOH imparted me lessons in life and love.  One is, we are always looking for the perfect person but are we sure that same person is perfect for us?

Years ago, I really don’t want to see myself in pictures. I feel so inferior of my looks then. It’s a different story now. I have never been so confident about myself until a couple years ago. Vanity has been my ally. Good fashion sense is my shopping companion. Everytime I look on myself now, I am proud of what I have accomplished. The beauty junkie that I am, I am an “early adapter” to new products that invade the retail market. I am adventurous to what would make me look better. In the process, I feel great toward myself and it enhances my productivity in my job and in my flirting.

… and we would continuously evolve to become the best we could be. The king deserves no less as well as our future franchisees. Long Lick the King!

The Story of Andoy

June 12, 2008

I saw him on Korina’s Rated K last Sunday.  Andoy is not-your-typical tour guide in Cagayan Valley. He may know what is doing and he does it exemplary well. He may speak English eloquently. He wears the usual brown color of an Ilocano.  Amazingly, he is just 12 years old.

I was moved by Andoy’s story. I wish I have his gift of persistence to strive harder despite his family’s struggle for survival.  I admire Andoy’s desire for learning and his ability to learn really fast.  He empowers himself and in the process, he has inspired others. He wants to be a lawyer someday to prove that not all lawyers are liars.

May Andoy and his family have their hearts’ desires. May the good God bless them…..

Thanks to Rated K for bringing this story to us.  More thanks to Andoy for sharing his story to us.

It was indeed a stressful week for me.  Problems arise after solving another.  Some should have been avoided but still happened.  This is part of the growing pains of a start-up company. You will constantly be surprised by challenges, either inevitable or not, so alien to you.  True enough, experience is the best teacher!

There’s no way to go but solve the issue and move on to the next challenge. Mistakes are meant to be learning tools that should not be consumed again.  Yes, mistakes should be disposables but  must serve their purpose everytime, through the lessons that are bundled with it. Mistakes may be free to commit but can be costly to ‘dispose of.’

I am happy that these mistakes happen now than later on.  I am even happier with the lessons learned. Cliche as it is, “to err is human,” I prefer “To correct errs is a better man.”

NEW MONTH. It’s 2nd day of June and we are almost half-way done for the year. I am happy with what I have accomplished so far, but there are a lot more things to be done…

NEW PHONE. It was my second time to buy a new phone but my first techie one, Sony Ericsson P1i. Usually, I get free phones from my line subscriptions with Globe and Sun. But I only get not-so-smart phones with my minimal plans.

NEW BRANCH. Ice Cream King will open its second branch at Ever Gotesco Mall Manila Plaza tomorrow or Wednesday. I will share pictures of our soft opening in the coming days.

NEW SHIRTS. I am excited to receive my new Quiksilver shirts from Maan who works for the brand in the U.S.

NEW HAIRCUT. I want a new one this week, possibly a different style. Thanks to my stylist, Benj of Fix Virramall, who never fails to give me a good haircut every month.

NEW PASSION. I never felt so better-looking until recently. I felt so camera-shy before that I don’t want to see pictures of myself. Now, I make the most out of every photo opportunity. And I want to take pictures too. I want to learn the basics of photography. Say cheese!

NEW SHOES? Nothing satisfies me most than a new pair of shoes. Did I mention that the last one I bought was a pair of Ferragamo? It was a steal. I won’t dare mention how much and where I got it hahaha! That was ‘already’ a month ago and I want to buy a new sneakers really soon.

NEW LOVE? I wish my friends, Apps, Gian, and Tina and myself love… How come it is too elusive to some when others just take it for granted. We would have our share soon or we just happen to be too selective and idealistic? Bwahahaha!

I am happy to be flexible in whatever new things, new opportunities, new challenges, new struggles, new surprises come my way. Well, I should be forever grateful for it’s a gift of character. Bwahahaha!
